Those were the thoughts that ran through my head when I went to breakfast at this restaurant in Keene, NH. This is what they said at the bottom of their receipt.

iOS 4

By now, you should know that Apple has come out with a new phone and a much awaited update to the iPhone's operating system (unless you've been living in a cave your whole life). I have to say that I am somewhat pleased with the new changes.

However, there is one gotcha that I wanted to mention here today because, well... it got me..

Yes, the long desired multitasking has come to Apples iPhone and I couldn't be any happier about the update!  But, after I downloaded the iOS4 and installed it on my phone I was shocked to find out that besides some cosmetic changes, I saw no tell tale sign of any type for multitasking available.

I thought... "Great, it's only for the 'new' iPhone".  I was dissappointed to tell you the truth.  However, I did a little more research online and found out that it is available (I'm using the iPhone 3gs)... It's just not completely clear how it works.

So... with that, here's how it works!

To make multitasking work all you must do is tap the home button 2x.  That's it, pretty simple huh?

To open an app click on the app you want to open, then double tap the home button and you can select from other apps that you've previously opened.

To close an app that is listed in the multitask bar at the bottom (after you've double tapped the home button) just press on the app and hold down (just like you would to move or delete apps normally) and you'll see a red minus sign.  Then just click the minus sign attached to the app icon you wish to close.

I found all this information here: http://www.mwd.com/2010/06/iphone-ios4-how-to-use/

They have a nice tutorial with images that might help if you're still having issues figuring all this out :)

Happy new OS!

Beer and Blog = awesome!

Do you like Beer?

Do you like Blogging?

Do you like gathering with people to talk about blogging while drinking beer?

Sounds like a good idea to me!

And Beer and Blog thinks so too.

"Beer and Blog is a weekly meet up based on bloggers helping bloggers over beers"

I just found this site on Twitter and had to share the concept. Of course, me being a beer lover and a tech guy who builds websites it caught my eye. You can either join the network or start your own chapter. There are several cities that have joined already. Will yours be the next? Cheers!
